Description | LAP is a cytocompatible, water soluble, Type I photoinitiator. It is used in the polymerization of hydrogels or other polymeric materials, specifically in the photopolymerization of PEG-diacrylate. It is preferred over irgacure 2959 for biological applications because of its increased polymerization rates with 365 nm light and absorbance at 400 nm, which allows for polymerization with visible light. It enables cell encapsualation at reduced initiator concentration and longer wavelength light, which has been proved to reduce initiator toxicity and increase cell viability. | ||
