| Description | Ionomycin calcium is a potent, selective calcium ionophore and an antibiotic produced by Streptomyces conglobatus. Ionomycin calcium is highly specific for divalent cations (Ca>Mg>Sr=Ba). Ionomycin promotes apoptosis. Ionomycin calcium also induces the activation of protein kinase C (PKC). | ||
