Description Piracetam is a cyclic derivative of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), used in treatment of a wide range of cognitive disorders.Piracetam is a compound suggested to be both a nootropic and a neuroprotective agent. Piracetam is a positive allosteric modulator of the AMPA receptor. It is believed to act on ion channels or ion carriers, thus leading to increased neuron excitability.
